Crafts for Kids: Halloween Class Treats

Welcome to Mama Meow's very first blog hop! If it's your first time here, let me introduce myself. I'm Danielle (you may know me from EcoScrapbook) and Mama Meow is a blog for kids in the Northwest Ohio area. Since I like to get crafty, you can also find kid-friendly craft projects from time to time.

Today's blog hop is a Halloween celebration that starts at CardMaker Magazine and hops over to 17 creative blogs before it ends at the Glue Dots Blog with an amazing GIVEAWAY!

For my project, I'm sharing an easy AND fancy way to pass out treats to classmates or trick-or-treaters!

This Halloween Treat Card has four simple steps and takes only two minutes to make. You can have treats for the entire class in about an hour!

You will need these supplies:

Ultra Thin Glue Dots®
Removable Glue Dots®
Blank cards*
Recollections Halloween-themed diecut doilies
8" pieces of Celebrate It Halloween ribbon
Halloween lollipops
Assorted Halloween diecuts
Scissors

*Purchase pre-made cards or make your own with cardstock. For this project, I used black and white cardstock and made 4 1/4 x 4 1/4" cards.

Step 1:

Attach diecut doily to front of card using Ultra Thin Glue Dots®.

Step 2:

Use Ultra Thin Glue Dots® to adhere Halloween diecut inside card.

Step 3:

Tie ribbon around lollipop stick and make a bow.

Step 4:

Temporarily secure lollipop to front of card using a Removable Glue Dot®.

Repeat for as many cards you would like to make. Easy peasy!

Hope your Halloween is filled with spooky fun!

Let's see what everyone else is sharing. Here's the list of participating blogs:

Does Summer Break Make You Happy or Angry?

Or a little of both...

Everyone's heard of Angry Birds and probably played the game at least once. Now, you can watch the movie and download the latest game, Angry Birds Action!

I bet parents are thinking "Hmmm...The Angry Birds movie? Not another movie I HAVE to go see because my kid is making me."

I thought the same thing and figured it would be the type of movie to wait and watch on DVD. I was wrong.

To celebrate the last day of school, my eight-year-old and I had dinner at McDonald's and watched The Angry Birds movie.

After our fun afternoon, I sat down with her and asked a series of questions. Here's what she had to say:

Question: Are you doing anything fun this summer?
Answer: Yes, I am going to Florida.

Q: How did you celebrate your last day of school?
A: We had a DJ party at school and my mom took me to McDonald's and the movie theater.

Angry Birds Happy Meal Toys available now through June 13.

Q: What's your favorite thing to eat at McDonald's?
A: A Cheeseburger Happy Meal with lettuce, ketchup, tomatoes, and pickles.

Q: What can you tell me about the movie?
A: The movie was Angry Birds. Well, there were pigs that came to the bird island and the birds celebrated. The king pig saw the eggs and said "hmmm, some eggs." Then there was a disco party...

Q: Hold on! We don't want a spoiler alert. What was your favorite part?
A: My favorite part was when they flew the birds from the sling shot.

Q: How many times do you think you laughed?
A: About 5.

I think there were more laughs than that.
A: 10.

Q: Did your mom LOL, too?
A: Yes.

Q: Since you saw The Angry Birds movie, you must like playing the game?
A: Yes. We opened the game at the end of the movie. We got Piggy Island!

Q: Is there anything else you'd like Mama Meow readers to know?
A: The movie was good.

And what did I think?

I laughed out loud within the first couple minutes and again and again throughout the movie. There are plenty of innuendos only parents would understand and tons of silliness for kids of all ages.

The new Angry Birds Action! app was slightly addictive. I don't usually play on gaming apps, but I found it hard to put my phone down once I was in game mode. I was also excited to unlock codes from select McDonald's items.

At one point, my eight-year-old watched me play, saw my score and was amazed by how fast I racked up points. (Although, she did give me a few tips on how to play the game.)

Should you go see the movie? Yes! It's summer break. Spend time with the kiddos and have fun!
